5 Companies Approved For Concessions In New SAT Terminal

The San Antonio City Council has approved new concessions agreements with five firms, which will allow San Antonio International (SAT) to move forward with new food and beverage and retail options for its Terminal B.

Five companies will open and operate 10 retail, restaurant and fast-food operations in the new terminal; three news and gift shops will open in Terminal 1 during 2011, which will be renamed Terminal A when Terminal B opens in November.

Host International Inc. will operate six news and sundries stores under San Antonio Express-News Café© or Texas Monthly concepts. It will also operate a Rosario’s Mexican Café© Y Cantina; there is already a location in Terminal 2, which will be demolished in 2011. Host will also manage and operate a café© and coffee shop, R Sala Bebida Botana Bar/Starbucks.

Two concepts will be operated by JDDA Concessions Management Inc. in the new terminal’s food court. Big’z Burger Joint, serving gourmet burgers, fries and onion rings, and Sip Coffee & Espress Bar, offering coffee, espresso and snacks.

Sbarro-Seven Hills will bring the Sbarro Italian restaurant to the food court, with pizza, pasta and salads on the menu.

Edwin Enterprises will operate Charley’s Grilled Subs in the new food court, serving up hot subs, grilled salads and gourmet fries.

HDS & Partners at SAT LLC will operate a Stars of San Antonio concept for specialty retail.

“We welcome the added variety and new array of food and retail concession offerings at the San Antonio International Airport,” says Aviation Director Frank Miller. “Some of these concessions and storefronts are familiar to our airport travelers, and some are new, but all are a great fit for San Antonio and will provide our guests and travelers the first-class service they deserve.”
