Golf Tournament Raises $56,000 For Medical Center

More than 140 golfers participated in a golf tournament sponsored and organized by The Paradies Shops that raised money for the new Lakeside Medical Center in Palm Beach, Fla.

The first Glades Healthcare Foundation Golf Tournament was held at Trump International Golf Club on Nov. 16; 144 golfers took their turn at the tees to raise more than $56,000 for continued improvements to the recently completed medical campus, which aims to improve access to quality healthcare for all western Palm Beach County communities bordering Lake Okeechobee and neighboring towns.

“Giving back to the communities we serve has always been extremely important to The Paradies Shops, and we are extremely proud to begin our relationship with the Glades Healthcare Foundation with such a successful event,” says Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of The Paradies Shops. “I’d like to thank our partner Thyra Starr for her vision in creating this worthwhile tournament, and we look forward to continuing our support of this essential foundation in the years to come.”

A helicopter ball drop kicked off the event, which featured a book signing by local author Laurence Learner, along with a chance to get swing tips from LPGA pro Michelle McGann on the signature 17th hole.

A live auction concluded the event, with items up for grabs that included two tickets to the Super Bowl, a trophy buck hunt at the King Ranch in Texas, a weekend getaway to the Chesterfield Palm Beach, and a signed copy of Dan Brown’s latest thriller, “The Lost Symbol.”

Sponsors included Everglades Farm Equipment, Ricondo and Associates, LPA Group, Farrington Smith Law Firm, Nestle, Host Southern Region and CSC Applied Technologies Inc. The event additionally served as Honorary Chairmen Jess R. Santamaria’s charity day.

“This tournament has been instrumental in raising funds for the Foundation,” says David Goodlett, chairman of the Glades Healthcare Foundation. “The Lakeside Medical Center is saving lives every day and we can ensure its future through the continued support of the Glades community.”
