ADM Unveils Sustainability Plan

ADMADM Aéroports de Montréal, the airport authority responsible for the management, operation and development of YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel, has released a sustainability plan to guide its operations going forward.

ADM said the plan seeks to provide a framework to encourage its external ecosystem and employees to embark towards a common destination, increase its transparency to the general public and foster the emergence of communities engaged in sustainable development.

The “roadmap” to achieve its vision of sustainable development is based on three main drivers. The first, decarbonization activities, seeks to position ADM in the global challenge of net-zero emissions. The second, focusing on people, encompasses passengers and other stakeholders, while the third driver is to promote a healthy and quality environment in its communities.

“The aviation industry is currently facing considerable challenges that require a profound transformation in the way it does business, operates, and collaborates with its ecosystem,” said Philippe Rainville, president and CEO, and Martin Massé, vice president, sustainable development, ADM, in a message within the sustainability document..  “In response to this challenge, ADM Aéroports de Montréal, along with all of its partners, has decided to act to operate world- class airport sites that are safe, influential in their industry, and recognized by their communities for their sustainable practices and social responsibility.

On the decarbonization front, ADM has set a global target of net-zero emissions in 2030 and a goal to reduce admissions by 86% by 2030 from 2010 levels. The document also lists multiple specific targets related to transportation and energy usage. On the second driver focusing on people, ADM said it will evaluate employee engagement, aim for a workforce that mirrors the labor market availability ratios by 2025 and maintain gender parity on the board of directors and in management. In the effort to promote a healthy and quality environment, ADP will strive to achieve zero waste at YUL’s terminal building, protect and enhance natural environments of high ecological value on its sites, and ensure sound and responsible water management.
