AMERICA! Backs Team In Breast Cancer Walk

AMERICA! is furthering its commitment to do its part in the fight against breast cancer.

Each spring, the company raises money for research through its Blossoms To Benefit program. This year, it will also sponsor the walk team GoPink!DC at the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Oct. 31 in Washington, D.C.

GoPink!DC is a team of breast cancer survivors who participate in Dragon Boat paddling, which has become a popular way for thousands of breast cancer survivors worldwide to empower themselves, improve their range of motion, and become stronger both physically and mentally.

Jane Crawford, president of the company and a two-time breast cancer survivor, says donations to the American Cancer Society go toward myriad initiatives, including keeping phone lines open 24 hours a day for anyone with questions; helping someone with breast cancer by providing a ride to treatment, a free place to stay or someone to talk to who has been through it; find the causes and cures for the disease; and help all women have access to mammograms and lifesaving treatment.

“In just one month, I will be celebrating five years since my second diagnosis of breast cancer, seven years after the first,” she says. “In both instances, I was extremely blessed to benefit from great treatment options resulting from early detection. Unfortunately, a high percentage of women are not so fortunate.

“For the second time this year, I have committed AMERICA! to supporting a breast cancer cause I believe provides hope for those women and men effected by breast cancer,” she continues. “A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.”

AMERICA! is also helping out on a corporate level. From Oct 26-30, the company will donate 15% of the sales of its First Lady and cherry blossom merchandise.
