Hojeij Branded Foods and its Detroit joint venture partner, AP United LLC, are participating in ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers (IMAGE), a voluntary program run by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that’s aimed at reducing unauthorized employment and the use of fraudulent identity documents. This IMAGE agreement will affect all of HBF’s AP United LLC concessions employees working at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).
As part of IMAGE, AP United LLC has agreed to self-assess its hiring practices to uncover vulnerabilities that could be exploited by unauthorized workers; to enroll in E-verify, a digital verification program for employment eligibility; to train staff on IMAGE Best Employment Practices and the use of new screening tools; and to undergo a Form I-9 audit by ICE.
“We are proud to complete this certification for many reasons, but primarily because it embodies what we stand for as a company,” says Regynald Washington, CEO of Hojeij Branded Foods. “Our goal is always to enhance the passenger’s dining experience. In today’s world, enhancing security – especially within the walls of our airports – is critical both to the safety and well-being of our employees as well as our guests.”
