ATL to Ban Smoking, Vaping Indoors

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) will eliminate all smoking rooms inside the airport beginning January 2, 2020 to comply with a City of Atlanta ordinance prohibiting smoking.

ATL will still allow smoking in designated areas outside the terminal. Beginning in two weeks, ATL will launch a 30-day accommodation program offering complimentary nicotine lozenges to passengers with limited access to the exterior smoking zones. The lozenges will be available at select concessionaires throughout the airport terminals.

Under the city ordinance, violators of the smoking ban, which includes vaping, can be fined up to $200 if caught by the Atlanta police.
