Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) celebrated the opening of its new South Terminal on April 13 with a patio party, live music, a ribbon cutting ceremony and a water cannon salute.
The South Terminal is a public-private partnership between the airport and LoneStar Airport Holdings LLC. LoneStar oversees the renovations and operations of the terminal
The $12 million project brings the total size of the terminal to 30,000 square feet and adds three new gates. During the celebration a water cannon salute was given to the first flight from the terminal, which was Allegiant Air’s nonstop flight from Austin to Albuquerque.
