Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) celebrated the opening of its new North Concourse and TSA checkpoint facility as part of its ongoing AVLForward expansion project. The concourse features new passenger gates (all set to be operational by the end of July); Paradies Lagardère-operated dining and retail, including locally focused shop The Goods@AVL, national sandwich brand Jimmy John’s and a Tropical Smoothie Cafe; enhanced restrooms; new passenger seating with charging capabilities; as well as rotating public art exhibitions from local creators. AVL, which launched its AVLForward project in 2019, recently opened its new ticket lobby and will continue to roll out updates to its facilities through mid-2028.
“This is a major achievement not just for the airport, but for the entire region,” said AVL CEO and president Lew Bleiweis. “Our community, airport staff, and project partners have shown dedication, creativity, and resilience throughout the AVLForward journey. We are proud to welcome passengers into this beautiful new space.”
