Barker Named Deputy Planning Director at SJC

The City of San José’s Aviation Department this week named Robert Barker as deputy director of planning and development for Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC), where he will be tasked with developing, managing and delivering projects in the airport’s Capital Development Program.

Barker brings more than 30 years of experience in airport planning and development, capital program, environmental, operations, maintenance and sustainability leadership and management positions to his new role.

Most recently, Barker worked for the Houston Airport System as chief development officer and chief infrastructure officer. Prior to that, he was senior project manager for Pacifica Services, Inc. at Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), vice president, asset manager for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG); and vice president, asset management for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Mineta San Jose International Airport,” said Barker said in a press release announcing his new position.  “The opportunity to support and work in partnership with our many stakeholders and customers while working toward the SJC strategic vision to ‘Transform the Way Silicon Valley Travels’ is particularly exciting. I look forward to working with the team to deliver the Airport’s challenging capital program which will result in significant strategic improvements.”

Barker was placed following an executive search led by Jacksonville, FL-based ADK Consulting & Executive Search.
