CLT Gets Whisky River Restaurant

Charlotte Douglas International (CLT) and HMSHost Corp. have announced the opening of Whisky River restaurant in the airport’s E Concourse.

Representatives from HMSHost, the airport and 12-time NASCAR Most Popular Driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting event this week.

The local brand has been popular on the street, Earnhardt says. It’s known for Whisky River chili; Whisky Wings in a variety of flavors; “dirty” tots that are made with pulled pork, chipotle queso, green onion and Dale Earnhardt’s signature barbecue sauce; and crispy fried pickles. The beverage menu includes cocktails such as the Moonshine Mule, made with Midnight Moon Original Moonshine, ginger beer and lime juice.

“We’ve enjoyed a lot of success with our Whisky River location in Uptown Charlotte,” he says. “When we were first approached about this opportunity, it felt like a natural fit and the enthusiasm from HMSHost gave us the confidence that this would work. Charlotte is home for us, and this location provides us the opportunity to give travelers passing through a little taste of our city.”
