HMSHost, Sheldon Poole To Expand Dining Options At RDU

HMSHost Corp. and joint venture partner Sheldon Poole of J.Q. Enterprises Inc. will open seven dining venues at the new terminal at Raleigh-Durham International (RDU).

The selections in Terminal 2 will include local favorite Brookwood Farms Barbecue; 42nd St. Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill, a North Carolina restaurant known for its fresh selection of seafood; California Pizza Kitchen; Carolina Ale House, known for its food and sports; Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, offering traditional American cuisine and hand-crafted beers; North Carolina Vintages Wine Bar, a full-service wine bar and restaurant, created in partnership with the North Carolina Wine & Grape Council, that serves wines from North Carolina wineries; and Starbucks Coffees.

“We are pleased to be able to deliver what our customers want: a variety of local and national brands, healthy options and upscale offerings,” says John C. Brantley, RDU’s director. “When you look down the concourse of Terminal 2, The Shops of RDU stand out among the many impressive features of the new terminal. We applaud our concession partners for elevating the shopping experience for our customers.”

The airport’s new terminal will be finished in phases through 2011. The JV will also add another Starbucks and Tequileria during the opening of Phase 2 in 2011.

“These are exceptional restaurants,” says Joe Waller, vice president of business development for HMSHost. “With terrific brands like Starbucks, California Pizza Kitchen and Raleigh’s own iconic 42nd St. Oyster Bar & Seafood Grill, this is a concession program that will truly make the traveler’s day better at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.”
