Indianapolis International Named Best North American Airport By ACI

Indianapolis International (IND) has won recognition as the best airport in North America by Airports Council International for the fourth time.

ACI made the announcement as part of its 2014 Airport Service Quality awards for performance excellence. The airport previously won the award in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

The ACI ASQ Survey seeks feedback from travelers at more than 300 airports worldwide. They vote on qualities such as courteousness of airport staff, comfort of waiting areas, cleanliness and general ambience. The survey covers 34 customer service areas in eight categories.

“At the Indianapolis International Airport, it is crucial that we focus on meeting and exceeding passenger expectations in every way and receiving this award for the fourth time only solidifies that we are doing just that,” says Michael Wells, president of the Indianapolis Airport Authority board. “I have to thank our dedicated employees and business partners for working tirelessly to help us reach this incredible honor.”

Following IND, in order, in the North American region are Tampa International (TPA), Jacksonville International (JAX), Sacramento International (SMF) and Ottawa International (YOW).

The Best Airport in North America with fewer than 2 million passengers was Victoria International (YYJ), and the most improved airport in North America was San Antonio International (SAT).

“Airports are more than simply points of departure and arrival,” says Angela Gittens, director general of ACI World. “They are complex businesses in their own right. As such, a focus on serving the passenger has become increasingly important to ensuring success. In the fast-changing landscape of worldwide aviation, ASQ is the key to understanding how to increase passenger satisfaction and improve business performance.”
