Airport concessionaires are giving local flavor a new meaning by bringing in produce and other foods from area farmers. Craft beers are being used to help create a sense of place and offer locally produced flavors. Fast-casual dining is making inroads into airports. Lambert-St. Louis International converted a shuttered concourse into an event venue available for rent. Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National has more than a new name; a terminal, parking garage and rental car center also have opened. Off-airport parking is offering amenities to travelers beyond just a place to leave their car – and giving airports a new revenue stream.
