MAC Posts Videos About Reliever System On YouTube

In an effort to tell the public about its reliever airports, the Metropolitan Airports Commission has developed six online videos showcasing each of the six area airports in its reliever system.

The airports help to relieve congestion that otherwise mean flight delays at Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP). It’s one of the largest reliever systems in the country, with more than 400,000 take-offs and landings a year, and a local economic impact of $225M.

The short, fast-paced videos, which have been posted on YouTube, feature the variety of the airports in the MAC reliever system. They can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/MetAirCommission.

“As the general aviation industry struggles through the ongoing economic crisis, it’s important we look for new ways to promote private aviation and the airports that support it,” says Patrick Hogan, director of public affairs and marketing for the MAC. “By posting the videos on YouTube, we are reaching out to pilots and businesses in a new way, to talk about the advantages our airports offer.”

The six airports in the MAC reliever system are Airlake (LVN), Anoka County-Blane (ANE), Crystal (MIC), Flying Cloud (FCM), Lake Elmo and St. Paul Downtown (STP).
