Monterey Peninsula completes $8.5M upgrade

Monterey Peninsula (MRY) recently completed an $8.5M upgrade that included seismic retrofitting, expanded waiting areas and a new baggage claim.

The changes allow passengers to go from ticket counter to security checkpoint to terminal in a more streamlined manner, said airport manager Tom Greer.

The building dates back to the 1950s. Funds for the renovation came from the Federal Aviation Administration and from ticket fees collected for passenger facilities.
