More than 10,000 cardholders have passed through the fast-pass lanes at Albany International (ALB) since the program was launched last summer, says the company that runs it.
Clear, which has signed up more than 145,000 people nationwide, is operated by Verified Identity Pass Inc. and has lanes in 17 domestic airports.
“Clear has provided Albany International Airport travelers with a new level of customer service that provides measurable and welcome results to our passengers,” said David E. Langdon, chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority.
Enrollees to the program are pre-screened by the Transportation Security Administration. Once cleared, they are given a card that gets them through Clear’s security lanes at any U.S. airport; user fees are $100 per year, plus a $28 TSA vetting fee. The application process can be started at flyclear.com; applicants can then finish at an enrollment location, where their fingerprints and iris images are captured, and their identity is validated.
“From the first day the lane opened, Clear members from Clear airports such as Indianapolis and San José© used the Albany Clear lane,” said Allison Beer, Clear’s senior vice president of corporate development. “Albany is a major business traveler destination and the state’s capital, so it is not surprising that usage at the Clear lane continues to increase steadily,” Beer added.
