Paradies Awarded 10-Year Concessions Contract At LGB

The Paradies Shops has been approved to operate the concessions program at Long Beach (LGB) for 10 years.

“We are extremely excited to expand our relationship at LGB by adding the best local food and beverage operations,” says Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of The Paradies Shops. “The new terminal is incredibly well-designed, and through our partnership with Studio One Eleven, we will develop a program that embodies the spirit of the Long Beach community.”

Among the concessions planned is the Long Beach Business Journal News & Long Beach Experience. The publication has been the “voice of business” in the area since its premiere in 1987, and the store will showcase a selection of reading materials, sundries, local souvenirs, travel and business accessories, grab-and-go food and beverage items, and Paradies’ Read and Return and Recharge! programs. The Long Beach Experience will highlight the community, selling apparel from the Long Beach Clothing Co., as well as gifts and souvenirs featuring the Queen Mary and other Long Beach attractions.

George Economides, publisher of the Long Beach Business Journal, says the staff looks forward to being part of the Paradies team.

“While it’s great that the Business Journal name will be exposed to upwards of three million airport visitors, we see this as an opportunity to promote the city,” he says. “About half of the airport users are here on business, so we will be pushing Long Beach as a great location to open a business or to hold that next

Polly’s Gourmet Coffee & Sweet Jill’s Bakery also joins the mix. At Polly’s, beans will be roasted and delivered daily from the original location, offering light to full-bodied roasts, blends, decaffeinated and flavored coffees; Sweet Jill’s will feature muffins, scones, croissants, cakes, cupcakes , pies and cinnamon rolls, all baked from scratch.

Other concepts will include George’s Greek Cafe, a local institution for 28 years, which will offer a quick-casual menu highlighting traditional Greek cuisine. Long Beach Burger Bar by McKenna’s will have a menu featuring burgers, onion rings and hand-spun milkshakes. At Taco Beach Cantina, inspired by the original in Long Beach, offerings will include Potato Tacos and Red Corn Shrimp Taquitos, along with salads, soups, fajitas and Especiales, plus beers and cocktails. McKenna’s on the Bay, also inspired by a longtime Long Beach staple, will feature crab cakes, Ahi tuna salad and grilled Australian sea bass. For travelers who want wine, 4th Street Vine will feature a selection of boutique California wines, craft beers and spall tapas plates – mirroring the original location; patrons will also be entertained during events featuring local artists and musicians. And CNBC News Long Beach will showcase the full range of exclusive CNBC programs; newspapers, magazines, paperbacks, electronics, beverages, luggage, sundries, snacks and other trip essentials will be for sale.
