Slaybaugh Leaving Dayton For General Mitchell

General Mitchell International (MKE) has tapped Terry Slaybaugh as its next airport director.

Slaybaugh, currently the director at Dayton International (DAY), was selected following a nationwide search to replace Barry Bateman, who retired last year.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says Slaybaugh shares his vision for making the airport “a model for efficiency, customer service, aggressive and proactive engagement with the business community, and a strong strategic partner in economic development and planning.”

“I know the most important factor in any organization’s success is its leadership,” Abele adds. “I’ve worked hard to bring to the county not just competence and experience, but the kind of drive and passion that consistently outperforms expectations. Terry is no exception.”

Slaybaugh has been director of aviation at DAY since March 2011. He had been senior vice president at Anthony J. Costello & Son Development Co. of Rochester, N.Y., before taking the Dayton job; he also had previously been director of aviation at Greater Rochester International (ROC) from 1996 to 2006, where he led business development, large capital projects, operations and security expansion, according to the Dayton Business Journal and other media reports.

Terry Blue, deputy airport director, has been helping run MKE since Bateman retired. Slaybaugh is expected to begin his new role in February.
