SSP America, Canada Open Dining Concessions

SSP America and SSP Canada have each opened a new restaurant.

At Reno-Tahoe International (RNO), SSP America has debuted its latest brand concept, Mountain House Diner.

“We believe Mountain House Diner is a perfect fit for our travelers at RNO and are thankful for the opportunity to continue our partnership with the Reno-Tahoe International Airport Authority,” says Les Cappetta, president and CEO of SSP America. “We are proud of what we have achieved with Mountain House and we hope that our customers enjoy eating, drinking and relaxing there as much as we have enjoyed creating it.”

The company calls the restaurant a cross between a tranquil alpine lake house and a neighborhood diner. Tightly stacked split wood lines back gar, giving the eatery the ambience of a warm cabin. When possible, regionally grown food and locally sourced beverage ingredients are used in the menu. The open kitchen offers selections such as Skillet Scrambles, pancakes, Three Way Burgers and Big Game Meatloaf. Breakfast is served all day, and there is also a children’s menu.

“The new Mountain House Diner will help our airport make the all-important first and last impression on leisure and business travelers,” says Krys Bart, president and CEO of Reno-Tahoe International Airport. “Located adjacent to our iconic ski statue, the wide-ranging menu, outdoor theme and local flavors will make Mountain House a favorite meeting place in our airport.”

Mountain House Diner is located pre-security in Reno-Tahoe’s Main Entrance Hall.

At Toronto Pearson International (YYZ), SSP Canada is marking the opening of Mill Street Brewery Pub in Terminal 1.

“SSP is pleased to open Toronto’s iconic brew pub within its hometown airport and give travelers passing through a refreshing taste of its award winning craft beers,” Cappetta says. “We are proud of our partnership with Toronto Pearson and Mill Street Brewery and delighted with the great response we’ve already received from guests within such a short period of time. We are dedicated to providing truly authentic dining experiences to travelers, and Mill Street Brewery Pub is another demonstration of SSP’s passion and ability to uphold that commitment.”

The restaurant features red and cinnamon tones, deep textured wood panels and copper panels that complement wood-upholstered furniture and the backdrop brick wall – a signature element found at every Mill Street Brewery Location. It offers 10 best-ranked brews on tap, as well as fish and chips, chicken tikka masala skewers and Angus beef sliders.

“We are so excited to welcome Mill Street Brew Pub to Toronto Pearson,” says Pamela Griffith-Jones, chief marketing and commercial officer for the Greater Toronto Airports Authority. “We have made a commitment to create unique and memorable experiences for our guests at the airport and to showcase the best of what Toronto and this region has to offer, and Mill Street is a great example of that. Our guests are going to love the opportunity for great beer and great food in a fun and interactive environment while they are at the airport.”

Steve Abrams, co-founder of Mill Street Brewery says, “We are thrilled to showcase our award-winning beers in Canada’s largest airport, giving air travelers the craft beer experience they’ve grown to demand. We look forward to a continued successful partnership with Toronto Pearson and SSP.”

Mill Street Brewery Pub can be found between Gates D20 and D22.
