TPA Asks Public To Help Design Terminal

Many airports ask travelers for feedback, but Tampa International (TPA) wants them to take it a step further.

The airport is preparing to redesign its terminal and officials want to know what passengers think of everything from signs to bathrooms, lounges to art. The aviation authority is working with HOK Architects on the $30M Main Terminal Modernization project and has already gotten suggestions from hundreds of users.

The authority is using “visioning sessions” to collect the information from community partners, airport stakeholders, employees and an open forum for the general public. A survey on the airport’s website uses the visioning sessions to show the viewer a series of pictures, on each of which he or she can choose “like” or “dislike.”

“We will continue to reach out to the community, until we believe that everyone has had an opportunity to participate in this exciting process,” said Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano. “Our goal is to make this airport a true reflection of Tampa Bay.”

Travelers can participate by visiting www.tampaairport.com and clicking on the red button that says “Help Design Our Terminal.”
