USO Shows Off New Quarters At STL

The newly renovated James S. McDonnell USO, which serves the military and their families at Lambert-St. Louis International (STL), was unveiled in a ceremony June 3.

The Marc Bulger Foundation, named for the quarterback of the St. Louis Rams, personally contributed more than $150,000 toward the effort. In all, $300,000 was raised between Bulger and local radio personality Dave Glover.

“This is for the military, maybe give them two minutes, one hour, two days, a little piece of home before they go out and protect us,” said Bulger at the grand re-opening.

The USO of Missouri unveiled the new facility, which features a larger sleeping room with beds, cyber café©, new gaming area, expanding media room, remodeled canteen and dining area, redesigned nursery, new changing room and larger luggage storage area – all to offer traveling troops and their families a “home wherever they go.”

The renovation was dedicated to Rocky Sickmann, a former Marine who was held hostage for 444 days from 1980 to 1981.
