YYC Projects 2022 Rise in Traffic

The Calgary Airport Authority (CAA) this week released its 2021 Annual Report, which includes forecasting that between 10 and 13 million passengers will go through Calgary International Airport (YYC) in 2022, putting the airport on a pathway to eventually return to its 2019 pre-pandemic peak of 18 million annual travelers.

YYC saw 6.3 million guests, an 11 percent increase from 2020 but still significantly down 2019. Last year also saw the authority restructure its debt to fund operations and plan growth strategically and YYC saw a 12 percent rise in cargo landings.

“In 2021, we showcased our resilience and creativity to respond to the challenges and opportunities we faced while keeping guest experience at the forefront of all our decisions,” said Bob Sartor, CAA president and CEO. “Our people, our strategy, and the partnerships we’ve developed with stakeholders are paving the way for our recovery.”
