ATL delays cost airport millions

Delays in designing and construction of its off-site rental car facility cost Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) millions, according to an independent audit. The Consolidated Rental Agency Complex, or CONRAC, was budgeted at $479M four years ago but could now cost $600M because of increased material and labor costs, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. It is expected to be completed by 2009.
Airport General Manager Ben DeCosta called the audit, conducted by KPMG LLP, “balanced and professionally done,” agreed with its basic conclusions, and told the paper it would implement many of the suggested reforms.
