DNC Brings Chefs To LAX

Airport food and retail operator Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services has opened two new airport dining concepts inspired by the talents of chefs Masaharu Morimoto and Wolfgang Puck as part of Los Angeles International’s (LAX) modernization plan.

“Bringing innovative concepts to travelers is what we do,” said Matt King, president of Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services. “Enlisting partners like Wolfgang Puck and Masaharu Morimoto make delivering on that promise a lot easier.”

Skewers by Morimoto in LAX’s Terminal 5 is Food Network Iron Chef Morimoto’s first ever airport location.  The casual dining concept features Japanese street and bar food kushiyaki and kushiage.  Kushiyaki consists of small bites of skewered and robata-grilled meats and seafood served over rice and vegetables, while Kushiage features panko-crusted meat or seafood skewers dipped in batter and deep fried.  The menu will also include specialty salads, soups and breakfast items.

The Wolfgang Puck Express in Terminal 7 is a departure from previous Wolfgang Puck Express formats in that it is larger, featuring both sit-down and full-service in addition to grab-and-go options.  The Express counter makes use of digital menu boards and a self-ordering kiosk that will allow guests to place an order, pay with a credit card and take their food within minutes. The Wolfgang Puck Express menu offers the chef’s hand-crafted signature pizzas cooked in an authentic wood-stone oven and classic bacon wrapped meatloaf as well as a an array of appetizers, entree salads, sandwiches and pastas.

“LAX is proud to showcase the first airport location for Skewers by Morimoto and the new Wolfgang Puck Express,” said Gina Marie Lindsey, Executive Director of Los Angeles World Airports.  “These concepts are a great example of some of the exciting and innovative projects that are part of our LAneXt modernization plan.”

Delaware North was selected by competitive bid in 2011 to develop new dining concepts in LAX. Additionally, the company will bring the Original Farmers Market at Third and Fairfax and a new Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Delaware North also currently operates Pink’s Hot Dogs LAX and the Daily Grill Restaurant in the Tom Bradley International Terminal, The Encounter Restaurant & Bar in the airport’s Theme Building, and one of the original Wolfgang Puck Express concepts in Terminal 2.
