MAC Names Probst Executive Vice President

Dennis Probst has been promoted to the new position of executive vice president of the Metropolitan Airports Commission.

Probst, who most recently was the MAC’s vice president of planning, development and environment, will coordinate and streamline activities of the three MAC divisions: planning, development and environment; finance and administration; and management and operations, as well as the Commercial Management and Airline Affairs Department. He will oversee most of the MAC’s daily operations.

“Since joining the MAC in 1997, Denny has helped lead efforts to expand Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport [MSP], attract new air service and improve the amenities and services available to travelers,” says Executive Director and CEO Jeff Hamiel. “In recent years, Denny oversaw major improvements to Anoka County-Blaine, Flying Cloud and Saint Paul Downtown airports and helped lead efforts to mitigate noise around MSP. Denny was key to development of the Stewards of Tomorrow’s Airport Resources program in 2008, formalizing efforts to ensure MAC decisions are environmentally, financially and operationally sustainable. Most recently, Denny led development of a long-term comprehensive plan for MSP, creating a blueprint for expanding airport infrastructure to meet the community’s air service needs through the year 2030.”

Probst began his career at the MAC as building construction manager before being promoted to director of landside development in January 1999, overseeing construction of a new Terminal 2-Humphrey, a major expansion of Terminal 1-Lindbergh, development of four major parking facilities and improvements to airport roadways. He became deputy executive director/vice president for planning and environment in January 2008. Before joining the MAC, Probst was a vice president at DMJM Harris. In addition, he was with BRW for 14 years as an architect and project manager, office manager and vice president, was mayor of Arden Hills, Minn., and president of the I-35W Corridor Coalition.

“I am honored by the trust that Jeff Hamiel and the commission have placed in me,” Probst says. “I approach this new role with enthusiasm and will do everything I can to live up to the responsibility that comes with it.”
