Passengers traveling from Concourses D and E at Miami International (MIA) can enjoy the airport’s latest art exhibition, “La Sirena: A Call for Transformation,” a look into the world of mermaids.
The exhibit is located in the Central Terminal Gallery, just past Concourse E’s security checkpoint. Eleven of the 16 artists who took part in the interpretation of the mystical sea creatures are from South Florida.
“It is fascinating to see how they considered this feminine icon from different points of view,” says Yolanda Sanchez, division director in the Miami-Dade Aviation Department Fine Arts & Cultural Affairs Department. “This exhibit gives passengers at MIA a sample of South Florida’s local talent and provides a mental and cultural escape during the travel day, which is one of the goals of our Fine Arts Program.”
