Pat Murray has taken the decision to leave SSP America to pursue a freelance career in the aviation sector, the company confirmed in a media statement today.
“Having worked at SSP America for almost 20 years and most recently as CEO for the region, [Murray] has come to the conclusion that his heart is in business development, and that’s where he wants to focus his time,” the company said in its statement. “He will continue to support SSP Group and SSP America as a strategic business development advisor.”
Murray took the helm as CEO in January.
George Mboya, chief financial officer, is taking on the role of interim CEO of SSP America with immediate effect. Mboya has been with SSP America since 2017. He was appointed chief financial officer in 2019 and was promoted to deputy CEO earlier this year.
“In due course, we will run a formal process to identify a permanent successor,” the statement said.
