Smejkal, Edwards In New Positions At TUS

The Tucson Airport Authority has promoted Mike Smejkal, to the position of vice president of planning and engineering. The new position is part of a Tucson Airport Authority reorganization that returns planning and engineering to a separate division as it was until 2013.

Smejkal joined the Tucson Airport Authority in July 2012 as director of engineering. In February 2014 he was named senior director of development services leading the team responsible for Tucson’s Airport Authority’s planning, environmental, design and construction projects for Tucson International (TUS).

“We are pleased that we are able to make this change to allow Tucson Airport Authority to focus on the important work of planning, preparing and overseeing our projects,” said Bonnie Allin, Tucson Airport Authority’s president and chief executive officer. “Not only do we have several projects currently underway, our airfield safety enhancement project will be one of the largest the Tucson Airport Authority has ever undertaken.”

Separately, the Tucson Airport Authority named Adele Edwards as chief technology officer. She will lead planning, design and development of technology performance for the organization. Edwards will oversee the Informational Technology Department reporting to the senior director of operational strategy and administrative services.
