Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) has installed three non-contact thermal temperature screening kiosks as part of its “Fly Safe” program.
The kiosks are in the ticket wing near the up escalator, the checkpoint screening area on the second floor and a third location for use by Airport Authority employees prior to starting their shift.
The screening technology distributed globally Toronto-based BeMotion. is designed to rapidly scan and detect individuals with body temperatures more than 100.4 degrees, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) current benchmark for fever.
The temperature check for passengers is voluntary, but SQL said signage at the kiosks advises individuals with elevated body temperature it is recommended that they should not travel and to seek further medical evaluation by a health care professional
“The daily temperature screening of our employees is another layer of safety protection for our passengers,” said Rick Piccolo, airport president and CEO. “The voluntary temperature kiosk for passengers provides an added self-screening service to the traveling public.”
