Tampa International CEO Receives Patriot Award

Louis E. Miller, CEO of Tampa International (TPA),
has been honored with the Patriot Award in recognition of his support of the
airport’s employees who serve in the Florida National Guard and Reserve.

The Florida
Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve gave the award to
Miller at a recent presentation. He and the airport were nominated by Spc.
Joseph Zotomayor, reserve component employee assigned to the 320th
Military Police Company, for their support of the U.S. Army Reserve. Zotomayor
was deployed to Iraq for 14 months.

“We were truly honored that we were selected to
receive the Patriot Award,” Miller says. “The aviation authority has always and
will continue to recognize that our employees are the most important ingredient
we have, and that without their commitment and hard work, we would not have
created a formula for success. In addition, we certainly respect those
individuals that are willing to serve our country during these difficult times
and always go out of our way to preserve and protect their job when they
return.”

The organization provides education, consultation and
mediation if necessary for employers of Guard and Reserve employees.

“The
Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide
outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the
citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,”
according to retired Col. Phillip Speake, ESGR Florida chairman. “Supportive supervisors
and organizations are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the
nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
